Kathryn Frances Marcusen, 90, daughter of Frank and Gertrude (Theisman) Dulwick of Taylor, ND, was born in Stark County, August 7, 1922.
Kathryn attended school in Taylor and graduated from Taylor High School. She married Ray Marcusen and they farmed south of Taylor. They were both very active in their church and community. Ray started the Grandvale 4-H Club and Kathryn was the leader for the girls of that club. They were members of the Taylor Lutheran Church, where Kathryn taught Sunday school, served on the church board, was active in ladies aid and The Women’s Missionary Federation. Kathryn, along with Mrs. Grefthen and Mrs. Upgrand, wrote many of the programs for the WMF radio program on KDIX radio. For many years, Kathryn chaired the annual Norwegian Smorgasbord. She also held offices in the Grandvale Homemaker’s Club.
Kathryn spent her last few years in Fargo with her only daughter, Kathleen Otheim; the last two of which were at the Villa Maria Nursing Home where she peacefully went “home” under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Kathryn is survived by her daughter, Kathleen Otheim of Fargo; three grandsons, Norman Otheim, wife Linda, and son Travis, of West Fargo; Douglas, wife Lisa and son Talan, of West Fargo; Wesley, wife Wendy, sons Taylor and Chase and daughter Elise of Hartford, South Dakota; one brother, Frank Dulwick of Portland, Oregon; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Ray Marcusen; son-in-law, Norman O. Otheim; her parents, Frank and Gertrude Dulwick; three sisters, Anne Sprecher, Evea Gress, Helen Colangelo; brothers and sisters-in-law, Clarence and Lorraine Dohrmann, Leroy and Ethelyn Marcusen, and Hazel Harris.
