Kathleen “Kay” Jacobson, 87, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, May 28, 2008, at Bethany Homes, Fargo. Kathleen Jean Strandvold was born November 9, 1920, in Buxton, North Dakota. She graduated from Central High School in Fargo, North Dakota, in 1938, and from the North Dakota State University in Fargo, in 1942. Kay married Cecil P. Jacobson November 25, 1943, in Fargo, North Dakota. She taught school at Oak Grove Lutheran High School in Fargo and in Rugby and Argusville, North Dakota. She was an Extension Home Economist and, later on, staff at Social Services, both Cass County agencies. She retired in 1981, from the position of Resident Services Director of the Towers, the retirement section of Bethany Homes in Fargo. After retirement, Kay and Cecil wintered in Mesa, Arizona, returning to Fargo permanently in July of 1992. Cecil died November 14, 1992. Kay is survived by her children, Robert and Richard Jacobson, both of Fargo, ND; five grandchildren, Joe, Laura, Steve and Cecil Jacobson, all of Fargo, ND, and Tom Jacobson, Dallas, TX; five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Faye Swenson, Bellevue, WA and Jo (Deke) Forsell, Burnsville, MN. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Cecil; and a daughter, Patricia “Pat” Jacobson. Funeral Service: Monday, June 2, 2008, at 2:00 PM, at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to the service at the church. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
