Karsten Hordvik, 77, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, September 29, 2008, at his home in Fargo, surrounded by his family, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Karsten was born in Bergen, Norway, April 24, 1931, son of Ingvald and Jenny (Kalvik) Hordvik. He immigrated to the United States, with his wife and son, in 1960. He was a dear husband, beloved father, farfar, morfar and oldefar. Karsten was a fine craftsman, being well recognized as a specialist in flooring. He was a past president of the Sons of Norway and the Kringen Klub. Karsten is survived by his wife, Aase, Fargo, ND; son, Stein-Inge (Nancy) Hordvik, Omaha, NE; and daughter, Dr. Marit Karin Hordvik (Dr. Glenn Mastel), Fargo, ND; brother, Leiv Hordvik, Bergen, Norway; six grandchildren, Signe Freed, Sonja Hordvik, Maia Mastel, Malena Mastel, Ingri Mastel, Signy Mastel; and two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Blake Freed. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Ingemar Hordvik. Memorial Service: Friday, October 3, 2008, at 2:00 PM. at Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley.
