Karen Marie Majerus, 62, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, August 21, 2007, at MeritCare Palliative Care, Fargo, ND. Karen Marie Gorman was born August 1, 1945, to Fred and Ragna (Susag) Gorman in Detroit Lakes from Dunn Township near Vergas, Minnesota. Karen contracted polio in September 1954, and attended school in Pelican Rapids, through 1963, and then moved to Fargo. Karen was employed by several of the now historic hotels in Fargo. She was also a long-time employee at the original Dutch Main on 8th Street, Fargo, until her marriage on December 5, 1977, to Frances “Tiny” J. Majerus. Tiny and Karen traveled throughout North Dakota for his employer, E. W. Wylie until his retirement, when they settled again in Fargo. Tiny and Karen loved to dance and listen to old time music. During the years on the road, Karen kept busy with one of her favorite hobbies, stamp collecting. She also enjoyed coin collecting, quilting, sewing, crafts and playing cribbage and cards, especially “wild” pinochle. For the last several years, she made her home at New Horizon Manor, Fargo. Karen was a lifetime member of the Moorhead VFW Auxiliary. Her family was life long members of Zion Lutheran Church, Pelican Rapids, and in more recent years, Karen became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church Missouri Synod, Fargo. Karen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and a very special close friend, Martha. She is survived by her eight step-children, Steve (Bekki) Majerus, Fargo, ND; Debra (David) Dero, Starbuck, MN; Roberta (Bobbie) Sarhegyi, Fargo, ND; Rebecca (Gary) Williams, Colfax, ND; David (Denise) Majerus, Kathryn, ND; Katherine (Allen) Gross, Fargo, ND: Joanne Harris, Coon Rapids, MN; Joseph (Deb) Majerus, Fordville, ND; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her special cousin and friend, Glen (Karen) Susag, and several other cousins, nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the family. Memorial Service: Monday, August 27, 2007, at 2:00 PM, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Two hours prior to the service at the church. Graveside service: Monday, August 27, 2007 at 4:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
