June Vangerud, 90, of Fargo, ND passed away on Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo. June Alaray Hagen was born March 5, 1931 to Philip and Helen (Manderud) Hagen in Grafton, ND. She completed through grade eight at Grafton Public School. She was confirmed at Grafton Lutheran Church. In 1945 the family moved to Fargo. June graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1949. She attended NDSU where she was a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority.
She married Tom Vangerud of Kindred on May 26, 1951 at First Lutheran Church in Fargo. They lived their life on the home farm at Kindred, ND where they raise their four children, Tim, Ellen, Sarah, and Ruth. They moved to Fargo, ND in 2012 and into Bethany on 42nd, Fargo, ND in 2017.
After family times and years of homemaking, sewing, 4H, and managing the Kindred Swimming Pool for two years, June became a bookkeeper for Kindred Cenex Oil Co. After a two-year leave, she became the bookkeeper for Orten Brodshaug Farms until her retirement in 2014.
June is survived by their four children: Tim (Judy) Vangerud, Fargo, ND; Ellen (Ron) Ista, Walcott, ND; Sarah (Vic) Chapman, Eagle, ID; Ruth (Robert) Brass, Delmar, NY. Also surviving are grandchildren: Jennifer Vangerud, Fargo, ND; Todd (Amy) Vangerud, West Fargo, ND; Eric (Jennifer) Ista, Fargo, ND; Leah (Drew) LeClair, Fargo, ND; Bryan (Gina) Allen, Gilbert, AZ; Jared (Amy) Allen, Nashville, TN; Scot (Kelly) Allen, Boise, ID; Jacob Brass, Ethan Brass, Eli Brass, all Delmar, NY. June also leaves 26 great-grandchildren: Logan and Kylee Vangerud; Elizabeth, William and Charlie Ista; Ryan and Josie LeClair; Brayden Maczewski, Jonathan, Christian, Calvin, Samuel, Bella, Bryan Jr., Joseph, Benjamin Allen; Brinley and Lakelyn Allen; Kierslynn, Mia, SJ, Kherington, Emma, Harlow, Kamrynn, and Ella Allen; and one great-great grandchild, Sophia Allen. June is also survived by sisters-in-law Arlyss Hagen and Joanne Sorbel.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, James and Robert Hagen; and sisters-in-law, Elaine Hagen and Lucille Mosher; brothers-in-law Burdette Mosher and Duane Sorbel.
A private service for June will be held. Burial will take place at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
