June, 87, passed away on February 19, 2023 under hospice care at Sante Care of Mesa, AZ.
June was born on June 1, 1935 to Arthur and Bertha (Rivard) Montplasir in Fargo, ND, the youngest of 9 children. She went to school at St. Anthony. When she was younger growing up on the farm near Horace, she would rather drive a grain truck or anything but things like canning or sewing as those weren’t her thing. She said she was named June because she was the last of nine and they ran out of names, but being born June 1st it was meant to be. She often called herself June Bug.
June married Dean Thies October 13, 1954 and they had five children. Her first job was at Armour Packing Co. in West Fargo. She and Dean both worked there. She was a stay at home mom until later when they moved back from Rapid City, SD to Moorhead and then started working at Silverline, and MeritCare Hospital after that.
She married Sig Langdahl in 1994 and they built a home on Pelican Lake. She had a home in Mesa, AZ where they spent their winters. June and Sig did some traveling and also went to Australia to visit her daughter, Kathy. June enjoyed time with family and friends, her happy hours, listening to music, dancing, playing cards, warm weather, and sunshine.
June is survived by her five children, Jennifer (Joe) Carney, Fargo, ND; Rick (Dar) Thies, St. Louis Park, MN; Mike (Jan) Thies, Deephaven, MN; Kathy Gessler, Phoenix, AZ; Todd (Karrie) Thies, St. Paul, MN; grandchildren, Michelle Carney, Stephanie (Mike) Lorz, Jessica (Shane) Bruns, Dylan Thies, Trenton (Maggie) Thies, Nicole (John) Crippa, Travis Gessler, Adriana (Hunter) Redinger, Taylor (Megan), James Thies, Roxanne (Peter) Zeller; great-grandchildren, Reagan, Grayson, Lilly, Harper, Asher, Elania, Elinore, Savannah; and one sister, Kathleen Rasmussen, Mesa, AZ.
June was preceded in death by her husband; parents; three sisters; five brothers; and daughter-in-law, Julie Thies.
