Judith "Judy" Sigurdson passed away Sunday, July 3, 2022, at home surrounded by her family, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Judy was born in Sharon, ND, on August 26, 1940, the daughter of the late Rudy and Gladys (Brager) Leon. Their family moved from Aneta, ND, to Argusville, ND, in 1948, where she attended school, graduating in 1958. In 1959 she started working for BC/BS of ND and left there in 1964. In November of 1962, she met the love of her life, Oliver "Sig" Sigurdson on a blind date. They were married on July 19, 1963, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. In November of 1964, they welcomed a beautiful baby girl, Julie Kay. In June of 1970, they adopted a beautiful baby girl, Kari Lynn, from Lutheran Social Services of Fargo.
In 1968, Judy went to work for Dakota Clinic (now Essentia Health) and dedicated 36 years to her career there. After retiring in 2005, she was a dedicated volunteer at Hope Lutheran and Essentia Health for ten years.
Throughout her life, Judy enjoyed going camping and fishing with her husband and girls. They took many family vacations to places like CA, NV, SC, TX, FL, and AZ. Judy also enjoyed square dancing, bowling, volunteering, and attending Memory Café with Sig.
Judy was a loving, kind, generous, and selfless wife, mother, grandma, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, and friend. She always put others before herself. She was a loving caregiver to Sig before he passed away and always tended to his needs. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She leaves behind her daughters, Julie Rohrich, Fargo, ND, and Kari Caine, Mahtomedi, MN; grandsons, Justin (Gina) Rohrich, West Fargo, Dawson and Alex Caine, Cottage Grove, MN; great-grandchildren, Austin, Sophia, and William Rohrich; her brother Ronald (Virginia) Leon, Fargo, ND; niece, Michelle Seltvedt, and nephews, Tim, Todd, Brad, Mike, and Randy Leon; brother-in-law Donald Sigurdson, Lake City, FL; and many great-nieces and nephews as well as many loving friends.
She is preceded in death by her loving husband of 58 years, Oliver "Sig" Sigurdson; her father and mother; father and mother-in-law, Halli and Rhoda Sigurdson; brothers James and Gordon Leon; and sisters-in-law, Juna Sigurdson and Gladys Leon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Red River Valley or Hope Lutheran Church, Fargo.
