Judith Ann (Backer) Johnson, 72, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2016 at Sanford Palliative Care, Fargo, ND.
Judy was born in Sisseton, SD, on August 8, 1943, to James and Gwen (Richards) Backer. She grew up in Fargo, ND where she attended schools: Woodrow, Roosevelt, Ben Franklin, and Fargo Central, graduating with the class of 1961. She graduated from NDSU in 1965. After graduation, she worked at the Moorhead Public Library – 7 years, Steiger Tractor, 6 – years, and sold Avon for many years. In 1967, she married Jerry Eiler. They had one daughter, Leslie. They later divorced.
She married Jerry L. Johnson on July 3, 1975.
She loved people and they loved her… she was a kind, caring person who looked after everyone else. She also loved animals, especially dogs, horses, elephants, and birds. Every Monday afternoon she looked forward to seeing all her friends at ceramics. She loved shopping, garage sales, pizza buffets, and clipping everything out of the Forum she thought someone might want.
She was preceded in death by her mother and step-father, Gwen and Dr. DH Lawrence, her father, James H. Backer and special aunt, Ann.
She is survived by her husband of 41 years, Jerry L. Johnson, Moorhead; daughter, Leslie, Woodland Park, CO; brothers, Dallas Backer, Moorhead, MN, and Les (Brenda) Backer, Greenville, GA; stepbrother, Donald (Mary Helen) Lawrence, Moorhead; sister, Diane (Julius) Johnson, Fargo; and many nieces and nephews.
