Joyce Ione Suppa, 92, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021 at Bethany on 42nd in Fargo.
Joyce was born to Hazel Melbye on October 9, 1929 and grew up on a farm near Hitterdal, Minnesota. She was baptized and confirmed at Salem Lutheran Church in Hitterdal and graduated from Hitterdal High School in 1947. She moved to Fargo and began her career in 1948 as an operator with Northwestern Bell.
She married William Suppa on May 2, 1952, and they lived in Fargo where they raised their son and 3 daughters. During this time Joyce continued her employment with the phone company until her retirement in 1990. Joyce was very social and loved visiting with family and friends. Her grandchildren were very special to her and she was excited over the addition of great-grandchildren in the last few years. She loved Christmas and decorating her Christmas tree, and she collected ornaments for herself and family throughout the years. She also took pride in her home and enjoyed decorating and entertaining. Joyce enjoyed fashion, shopping, playing Bingo, and hosting friends in her home to play whist and other card games.
Joyce is survived by her son Paul (Barb), Fargo; her daughters Jolene Vacha Wentz (Quentin), Bismarck; DeAnn Krieg (Jed), Fargo; and Mary Thorkeldsen (Roy), Arendal, Norway; her grandchildren Michael (Rena), Heather (Brian), Lindsay (Eric), David (Heather), Jacob (Alexa), Anna (Jacob), Kathryn, and Samantha; 2 step-grandchildren Preston and Chelsey; 3 great-grandchildren Reese, Scarlett, and Jack; and step-great-granddaughter Zariah. She is also survived by her sister Karen Lutz (Jim), brother Daniel Kittilson (Ruby), and 2 special cousins, Janice Foldenaur (Jim) and Cheryl Nyhus.
She was preceded in death by her husband William and her son-in-law Paul.
A service will be held on Wednesday, January 5th at 10:00 am at Hanson-Runsvold funeral home in Fargo.
With a visitation one hour prior to the service.
