Joyce Corrine Beverly Gullingsrud

A wonderful wife, mother, and friend passed from this world on March 23, 2022. Joyce Gullingsrud was born on February 6, 1928, to Palmer and Josephine (Jacobson) Sharpe and grew up in Nielsville, MN. She graduated from Climax High School and then from Concordia College. She taught home economics for several years in Nevis, MN, before marrying her childhood sweetheart, Dennis Gullingsrud in 1953 and moving to Fargo. They built one of the first houses on Edgewood Drive in North Fargo, where they lived and raised their family for 62 years. Her retail sales career was her professional pride, working at DeLendrecies and Tichart's Fabrics

Joyce was a gracious and exceedingly kind woman who made everyone she met feel at home. She always had coffee and freshly made treats ready for anyone who stopped by to visit. She excelled at many things; gardening (beautiful flower gardens and tomatoes), baking (to-die-for apple pie and spritz cookies), and especially sewing. She was known for matching plaids and the special baby quilts she made for all of her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many other little ones. Every Christmas, we looked forward to the Christmas "program jammies" for the grandkids. She hosted neighborhood coffee parties and kept in touch with neighbors and friends through yearly hand-written Christmas cards. She loved to read, do jigsaw puzzles, and watch her beloved Twins.

She loved her family so very much. Her children and grandchildren will miss her legendary "craft sessions" after Thanksgiving dinners and her Bingo games after Christmas dinners. There was always a listening ear, a cup of coffee or tea, and an abundance of love at Joyce's table when they came to visit. She personified the gifts of the Spirit in Galatians: love, peace, patience, kindness, and gentleness. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She leaves behind the love of her life, her husband, Dennis, daughters Lori (Pete) Weidemann, Mary (Brad) Mohs, Tracy (Randy) Walvatne, and son Mark, as well as grandchildren Max Weidemann (Marissa Porter), Ben (Sarah) Mohs, Amanda (Colin) Marum, Nichole (Aaron) Bye, Katherine Walvatne, and Simon Walvatne. She also leaves her precious great-grandsons Carter and Henry Mohs, Jameson Marum, and Oliver Bye.
