Joyce Groth, 86, formerly of Enderlin, ND, died Tuesday, November 23, 2021, at Hatton Prairie Village in Hatton, ND.
Joyce Haskins was born in Alice, N.D, on June 22, 1935, along with her twin sister Jean, to Lloyd and Cora (Christopherson) Haskins.
She attended school in Embden, ND, later moved to Enderlin, graduating from Enderlin High School in 1953.
Joyce married Herbert Groth, Jr. on July 17, 1955, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Enderlin. They lived for short periods of time in Grand Forks, ND, and Santa Ana, CA, before returning to Enderlin. In 1961 they purchased land in Moore Township, where they farmed and made their home.
In addition to being a busy farm wife and mother, Joyce worked various jobs at local banks, culminating her career as co-owner of Tri-County Tax Service in Enderlin. Throughout her life, she enjoyed gardening, sewing, baking, traveling, singing in church and community choirs, and volunteering in church/community organizations. Joyce especially enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
After Herbert's death in 1996, Joyce continued to live on the farm, later moving to Enderlin in 2007, followed by Maryhill Manor and eventually Hatton Prairie Village.
Joyce is survived by three daughters and one son: Kristi (Rob) Kerian, Dallas TX; Pauline Spiekermeier, Robins IA; Sara (Brad) Vaagene, Hatton ND; Jason (Candice) Groth, Concord NH; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is also survived by brother Gary (Carol) Haskins, Dilworth, MN, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert, her daughter Amy, son-in-law David Spiekermeier, granddaughter Sarah Joy (Spiekermeier) Jones, her parents, and her twin sister Jean Fernow.
In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred to Trinity Lutheran Church, Enderlin; Maryhill Manor, Enderlin; and Hatton Prairie Village, Hatton, ND.
