Jon "Shannon" J. Sigmund

Jon "Shannon" Jacob Sigmund, of Ft. Collins, Colorado passed away early Friday, February 22, 2013 at his home, just one week shy of his 41st birthday.

Jon was born February 28, 1972 in Fargo to Jacob and Avis Sigmund . He grew up in Fargo and graduated from Fargo South High in 1990 and furthered his education at Normandale Community College in Bloomington, Minnesota and NDSU. He then became partner with his uncle in owning and operating Video Land rental store before moving to and working in Denver, Colorado . He was briefly married to Julie Screpek while he worked for several Denver area newspapers. At the time of his death he was district manager for the Greeley Tribune, where his intelligence and wonderful sense of humor made him very popular with his fellow employees.

Jon's passions were movies, Minnesota sports teams, and of course the NDSU Bison. His love and knowledge was second to none when it came to his Twins and Vikings. He really bled purple and always hoped his team would again be in a Super Bowl. His knowledge of these teams was amazing, even knowing the most minor players' histories. Movies were also a very big part of his life, where he would go two or three times a week to the theater, and a home DVD collection that would rival most video stores. Jon had the biggest and kindest heart, and to know him would be to love him. He is very much loved by his family and leaves the largest hole in their lives.

He is survived by his parents who live in Ft. Collins; two brothers, Jacob Sigmund of Fargo and Mark Sigmund (Erika)of El Paso, TX; three sisters, Heidi Flynn (Tim) of Arvada, CO; Linda and Suzy Sigmund of El Paso, TX; uncles, William (Polly) Sigmund of Windsor, CO; Rudy (Jill) Sigmund of Fargo; Loren (Dana) Berg of Casper, WY; Allen (Debbie) Berg of Fargo; aunts, Ione (Robert) Wiltsey of Detroit Lakes, MN; Sandra (Terry) Evenson-Hagen of Bemidji, MN; cousins, Sarah Evenson, Bemidji; Jenny Tomlinson, Bemidji; Kelly Evenson, Tacoma, WA; Melissa Berg, Fargo; Michael Berg, Fargo; Ashley Myhre, Fargo; Rachel Berg, Casper, WY; Lydia (Jason) Faulkner, Fargo; Reed (Autumn) Sigmund, Eagan, MN, Robyn Sigmund, Bloomington, MN; Emily (Derek) Martin, Fargo; Tiffany Sigmund, Valdosta, GA; and numerous second cousins.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Lyal and Josie Berg; paternal grandparents, Wilhelm and Martha Sigmund; and his uncles, Karl Sigmund and Mark Evenson.
