John Anton Larsen

John Larsen, 97, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, April 29, 2020 at his home, under the care of CHI Hospice.

John Anton Larsen was born on January 23, 1923 at Felton, MN to Lauritz and Annie (Olson) Larsen. He grew up in Felton and graduated from high school there. John served in the US Army from 1942 to 1946 during World War II as a Platoon Commander at the Battle of the Bulge. Following his service, he received a degree from Dakota Business College. After working construction, John joined the Fargo Police Department and served as a police officer from 1950 to 1986.

On April 2, 1949, John married Betty Johnson in Crystal, ND.

John loved to fish, hunt, and was an avid Vikings and Bison fan. He was also a member of the Fargo VFW and the American Legion.

John is survived by his wife of 71 years, Betty; daughters, Lynnette (Ted) Olson, Crookston, MN; Marilee (Steve) Yoshifuji, San Metao, CA; son, John Mark Larsen, Fargo, ND; sister, Lorraine Diederichs, Crystal, MN; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Carl, Andrew, Harold, and Kenneth; and sisters, Emma, Alice, and Josephine.

A private service will be held and streamed on Hanson-Runsvold’s website at 10am, Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
