John Huhner

John D. Huhner, 77, of Fargo, ND, died Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at ManorCare, Fargo. John David Huhner was born December 7, 1932, in Fargo, North Dakota, son of John E. and Axa (Henderson) Huhner. He attended Jefferson Elementary and Fargo Central High School. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in November of 1955. He attended Wahpeton State School of Science majoring in Commercial Refrigeration. He spent several years dealing in sales, installation and service of commercial refrigeration equipment. He spent several years in sales at ABC Seamless. He held positions in maintenance and custodial duties including Fargo National Bank, Oak Manor Motel and Plains Art Museum. John was joined in marriage with Carol Ann Braaten on October 6, 1962, at Aspelund Lutheran Church, Flom, Minnesota. John was a member of American Legion Gilbert C. Grafton Post #2, VFW Post #762, Past Master of Sunrise Lodge #130, AF & AM, Past Patron of Orpah Chapter #110, OES. He was a very active member of El Zagal Shrine. He enjoyed and was proud of the work he was able to do with the “57” Directors Staff until failing health forced him to become inactive. John was an avid reader. He and Carol enjoyed many years of taking winter vacations in warm climates and enjoyed several cruises. In lieu of flowers, memorials are desired to go to El Zagal Transportation Fund, Scottish Rite Learning Center or Bethlehem Lutheran Church. John is survived by his wife, Carol, of 47 years and several cousins. Funeral Service: Saturday, June 19, 2010, at 11:00 AM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Friday, June 18, 2010, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. Masonic Service: Friday, June 18, 2010, at 7:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
