John Lee Greene

John Lee Greene, 78 of Fargo, ND passed away peacefully on June 8, 2014 in his home surrounded by his wife and two sons.

John was born in Edgeley, ND on February 15, 1936 to Eleanor & Gordon Greene. After spending time in Edgeley and Millerton, ND, the family settled in Wimbledon, ND where John graduated from high school in 1954. After graduating, John enlisted in the US Navy and spent most of the next four years on his beloved battleship, the USS Iowa.

In September of 1961, John began his career with United Electric as an assistant bookkeeper. Over the next 40 years, John poured his heart and soul into the company which led to many business successes, ultimately leading to his retiring in 2002 as Chief Financial Officer and Partner of United Electric Service Company (UESCO).

John married Judy Zink of Carrington, ND on October 28, 1961. They had two sons and five grandchildren that were always the focus of their life. John and Judy enjoyed a wonderful life together, sharing fifty-two years with their family and friends.

Throughout the years, John enjoyed spending his free time with his family and all their adventures along with spending immeasurable hours with Boy Scout Troop 222, Board of Ordained Ministry – Dakota Conference and Calvary United Methodist Church.

You could always count on John! He was loved and respected by all who knew him and will be missed by all. This wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend is survived by his wife of fifty-two years, Judy; two children, JD (Nikki) Greene of Iowa City, IA, and Michael (Linda) Greene of Flower Mound, TX; five grandchildren: Evan, Joshua and Eva Greene, Madison and Logan Greene; siblings, Jeanie Schwager of Moorhead, MN, Richard (Sam Brungardt) Greene of St. Paul, MN; sisters-in-law, Sandy Greene of Robbinsdale, MN; Joyce (Lyle) Paulson of Fargo, ND; Marlene (Duane) Anderson, Fargo, ND; brothers-in-law, Chuck Larson of Crookston, MN; Richard Zink of Carrington, ND; Merlin (Elaine) Zink of Baker, MT; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gordon and Eleanor Greene; brother, Dan Greene; brother-in-law, Fritz Schwager; sister-in-law, Jorene Larson: and in-laws, Harold and Erna Zink.
