Jodi Lyn (Zelmer) Bjellum, 48, of Fargo, ND passed away on July 28th, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, MN. Jodi was born on July 21, 1969, in Bismarck, ND, to Vern and Kathy (Woeste) Zelmer. After graduating from Bismarck High School in 1987, she attended Moorhead State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology.
On July 2nd, 1994, Jodi married Hans Erik Bjellum in Grand Forks, ND. They have two beautiful children, Connor Jakob (20) and Kaitlyn Rae (16). Jodi was a devoted wife and mother and loved her husband and children with a fierce resolve. She loved watching her children participate in all of their activities. Her favorites were basketball and swimming. Jodi worked as a phlebotomist during her early years of marriage and more recently as an administrative assistant at 7-Day Clinic, where her husband, Dr. Hans Bjellum, was medical director.
Jodi was a woman of deep faith in God and love for her family (husband, children and extended family and friends). She was a selfless person who was happiest when she was serving others, whether through her many volunteer roles or hosting countless gatherings of friends and family in her home. Jodi had an extraordinary gift of hospitality and a smile that could light up any room. She made every person in her life feel loved and valued.
Jodi was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma at the age of 20 while at MSU. Over the years, she fought through many complications associated with the treatments which were utilized to cure her Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Jodi’s final battle resulted from a Heart Attack in October of 2015. She developed many complications related mostly to her lungs. Jodi displayed strength, spirit, and unshakeable faith in Jesus. Jodi passed into her Savior’s arms on Friday, July 28th at St. Mary’s Mayo Hospital in Rochester, MN.
She is preceded in death by her father, LeVern Edwin Zelmer; her maternal grandparents, Victor and Laura Woeste; and her paternal grandparent; Edwin Zelmer.
She is survived by her husband, Hans; son, Connor; daughter, Kaitlyn; her mother, Kathleen Zelmer; sister, Jeri (Tom) Quant; brother-in-law, Karl (Karen) Bjellum; along with many nieces, nephews, uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends who will miss her dearly.
Memorials are preferred to Hope Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND.
