Joanne M. (Jo) Lidstrand, 85, resident of Fargo, died at her home Sunday, July 21, 2013.
She was born January 24, 1928 in Jamestown, to LaVern and Mabel Lidstrand.
She attended Franklin Grade School, where she was the champion marble shooter on the playground. She graduated in 1946 from Jamestown High School. She was a proud member of the VFW Drum and Bugle Corps.
Following graduation from high school, Jo attended Briarcrest Bible Institute in Canada and graduated in 1955.
She began her career with Northwestern Bell Telephone in 1949 in Jamestown, retiring in 1986 after working in Jamestown, Valley City and Fargo.
Jo was an avid tennis player and a fierce competitor on the golf course, winning many titles. Always ready to talk sports, she loved NDSU Athletics and was a steady fan of the MN Twins.
She was a loving aunt and friend, always interested in the lives of her family and doing whatever she could to help.
Joanne is survived by her nieces, Patricia (Erik) Christensen, of Baxter, MN, and Marianne (Michael) Harris of Aurora, CO; nephews, David and Michael Lidstrand of Oroville, WA; and Thomas Lidstrand of Portland, OR; great nieces and nephews, Sarah Christensen, St. Paul, MN; and Leah Christensen, Chanhassen, MN; Elizabeth and Paul Harris of Denver, CO, Karissa and Katriona Lidstrand of WA; and dear friend, Elaine Zaeske of Fargo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LaVern and Mabel; her brother and sister-in-law, Vernon and Mary Jean Lidstrand; 2 nieces, Jean and Julianne; and nephew, John.
Services will be at 11:00 AM, Thursday, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, in Fargo, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Highland Home Cemetery in Jamestown.
Memorials are preferred to Briarcrest Bible Institute or Navigators.
