Elaine JoAnne Adkins, 86, Fargo, ND passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Sanford Hospital after a brief illness.
JoAnne Roseth was born July 14, 1931 in Fargo, ND to Clarence and Frances Roseth.
When she was young, she spent summers in Christine, ND working at her Aunt and Uncle’s farm. JoAnne attended Wahpeton High School and on February 19, 1950 she married Bill Adkins of Breckenridge MN. JoAnne and Bill made their home in Wahpeton until 1959 when they moved to Fargo. JoAnne was a homemaker who loved babies, in 1969 she became a foster mother for Catholic Family Services. She tenderly cared for 65 newborns until they were adopted. She enjoyed making crafts and crocheting.
In 1978 JoAnne and Bill moved to Aberdeen, SD and subsequently moved back to Fargo in 1988.
She was a member of Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo ND.
Throughout her life she cared for many children including her own grandchildren and great- grandchildren. Her family was her life. She had a profound impact of love, compassion and grace on those she came in contact with.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Adkins; parents, Frances Roseth and Clarence Roseth and her brothers, Howard Roseth and
Gary Roseth.
She is survived by her children, W. James (Christine) Adkins, Volga SD, Laurel Mahan (Larry Madson), Fargo, ND, Mark K. Adkins, Grapevine, TX, Teresa (Jim) Monk, Fargo ND; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; brothers, Don (Alva) Roseth, Mechanicsburg, PA, and Roger Roseth, Fargo, ND.
