Jill Kim (Barnstuble) Sly, 63, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2019 at Sanford Hospital on Broadway, surrounded by her loving family after a short but courageous battle with cancer.
Jill was born February 29, 1956 at St. Johns Hospital in Fargo, ND. She was the fourth youngest of twelve children born to Rozel “Betty” and Thomas Barnstuble. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Messiah Lutheran Church in Fargo, ND.
Jill graduated from Fargo North High School in 1974. She worked for Kelly Services serving many area businesses over the years.
In September 1983 she married James Sly. From that union a precious baby girl named Christine Ann was born on April 26, 1984.
Jill went on to pursue further education attending Interstate Business College in Fargo, ND and graduated with a degree in Computer Information Specialist in 1989.
In 1997 she met her lifelong partner Robert “Mike” Walker.
Jill was an avid pet lover and owned many pets throughout her life. She also enjoyed cooking, baking, playing cards and other games, but most of all spending time with her family, especially her grandson Hudson who was her “Little man.”
She will be forever loved and missed by all who knew her.
Jill is Survived by her partner Robert Walker, Fargo, ND; her daughter Christine (Robert) Huus, Fargo, ND; her brother, Bruce (Julie) Barnstuble, Fargo, ND; her sisters, Judy (Tom) Kurz, Navarre, FL; Jennifer (Bernard) Hunt, Las Vegas NV; Joan (Danny) Burden, Brooklyn NY; Jane Jones, Roseville, MN; Jackie Barnstuble, Minneapolis, MN; and Janine Barnstuble, Fargo, ND, her grandson Hudson, future grandchild, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents Rozel “Betty” and Thomas Barnstuble, brothers Tom and Tim, sister Gail, one baby sister, and one angel grandchild.
A small graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 15 at 11 A.M. at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo, ND, where Jill will be laid to rest.
Memorials are preferred to the Roger Maris Cancer Center in Fargo, ND.
Jill’s family would like to thank the staff at Roger Maris, Sanford on Broadway, and Brenda from Hospice of the Red River Valley for the care and comfort they provided Jill and her family during this difficult time.
