Jewel E. Roningen, 85, of Fargo, ND, died Monday, January 7, 2008, at Innovis Health, Fargo. Jewel Edgar Roningen was born January 15, 1922, in Pelican Rapids, Minnesota, son of James and Effie (Holt) Roningen. He attended school in Pelican Rapids and went on to college at North Dakota State University, where he played football. He graduated in 1943. Jewel married Grace Carlen in Fargo, North Dakota, January 16, 1943. He entered the United States Marine Corp and was discharged in 1945. Jewel was NDSU’s number one football fan attending all games including practice and national games. Jewel is survived by his wife, Grace; son, Dr. Bruce (Brenda) Roningen, Sarasota, FL; two brothers, Bob (Ella) Ronningen, Pelican Rapids, MN; and Stan (Barbara) Ronningen, Fargo, ND; a sister, Eleanor (Bill) Pierce, Seattle, WA; two grandchildren, Kristine (Bill) Guggemos, Chanhassen, MN; Bradley (Alma) Roningen, Crocker, MO; three great-grandchildren, Elizabeth and Hayden Guggemos; and Jennifer Roningen. Funeral Service: Friday, January 11, 2008, at 10:00 A.M., at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Thursday, January 10, 2008, from 5-7 P.M., at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Burial: Pelican Valley Cemetery, Pelican Rapids, MN.
