Jerry Lee Sell

Dr. Jerry Sell, age 91, of Fargo, ND passed away on Oct 30, 2022.
Jerry was born on February 6,1931 to Norma and Ted Sell and grew up on family farms near Redfield and Adel, IA. Upon graduation from Adel High School in 1948, Jerry enlisted and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean war earning two purple hearts.
After returning from Korea, he met and soon married JoAnn Adams in 1953. Jerry and JoAnn had two sons, Roger and Rex. He enjoyed watching his sons play hockey and baseball and helping on any projects they started. Jerry earned bachelor's, master's, and doctorate degrees in Animal Science from Iowa State University. Upon completion of his PhD, he worked as a professor at the University of Manitoba, North Dakota State University, and Iowa State University until he retired in 2000. He was beloved by his graduate students and was so proud of all their achievements. After retirement Jerry enjoyed spending time volunteering as a Medicare counselor and delivering for Meals on Wheels.
Jerry and JoAnn moved back to Fargo in 2015 to spend more time with family.
Jerry is survived by his wife, JoAnn; Daughter in-law, Jane Sell; Grandchildren, Callie Bahls, Derek (Darcie) Sell, Aubrey (Cesar) Sell Wade, Mason (Katie) Sell Wade, and 10 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his sons Roger and Rex.
