Jeffrey Volk

Jeffrey Douglas Volk, 50 years old, died on Tuesday, May 29, 2007, at home surrounded by his family, after a courageous battle with cancer. Jeff was born on April 9, 1957, at St Luke’s Hospital in Fargo, to Raymond “Jack” and June (Nelson) Volk. He lived in Fargo the majority of his life. Jeff attended Longfellow School, Ben Franklin and graduated from Fargo North High in 1975. After graduating, he worked at BMI and then in property management. Jeff married Julie Stangeland in June of 1991. Their eldest daughter, Nina, was born on September 21, 1993. Kari, the youngest daughter, was born on March 19, 1996. Jeff’s girls were the love of his life. Jeff made a career change and received his realtor’s license in 2001. He worked for Century 21 and was currently working for Advantage Realty. Jeff was active in the community. He was a long standing member of the Elk’s Lodge. He became a member of the Shiloh Lodge #1 in 2000, and joined El Zagal Shrine that same year. Jeff joined the Escort Motor Patrol in December of 2000, and was president of this unit at the time of his death. Jeff was also a member of the Midwest Shrine Motor Corp, F-M Walleyes Unlimited and National Association of Realtors. Jeff dedicated his short life to his children. They meant the world to him. He cared deeply for his family and all his friends. He would do anything for anyone in need. He will be greatly missed. Jeff was preceded in death by all of his grandparents, and his faithful companion, Sandi. He is survived by his wife, Julie, Fargo, ND; daughters, Nina and Kari; parents, June and Jack Volk,; brothers, Brad Volk and David Volk ; sister, Nancy (Jim) Reger and their children Jack and Dallas, all of Fargo, ND. He is also survived by his second family, father and mother-in-law, Lloyd and Carol Stangeland, Audubon MN; sisters-in-law, Reneece (Jeff) Strand, Sioux Falls, SD; and Lynn (Martin) Rud, Fargo, ND; brother- in-law, James (Gail) Stangeland, Mitchell, SD; nephews, Aaron Strand, Mitch and Mason Taragos; nieces, Mariah and Shannon Rud, Kathy Strand, Kellan Taragos, Cassandra, Amanda, and Kayla Stangeland. The family requests that the memorials be sent to the El Zagal Shrine Hospital Transportation Fund. Visitation: Friday, June 1, 2007, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND.
