Jeanne Catherine Vasichek

Jeanne Catherine Vasichek, 77, passed away on December 21, 2017 at Sanford Medical Center in Fargo, ND.

Jeanne, daughter of Thorney and Theresa (Byrnes) Kroke, was born on December 17, 1940 in rural Melvin Township, Nelson County, North Dakota. She graduated from Michigan (ND) High School in 1959. Jeanne married Thomas J. Vasichek on November 3, 1959 and they lived and farmed near Lawton, ND until moving to Michigan in 1966.

Jeanne provided home daycare, worked at the Michigan Clinic and was an EMT for the Michigan Volunteer Ambulance for many years. Jeanne moved to Fargo and attended Interstate Business College, where she earned a degree in Medical Technology, and was employed at Meritcare, Cass County Social Services and the Holiday Inn.

Jeanne enjoyed playing Mahjong, doing puzzles and loved her time spent with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid NDSU Bison and Minnesota Viking fan.

Grateful for having shared her life are her 3 adorable children, Judy (Pete) Polansky, Bismarck, ND; Todd (Lisa) Vasichek, West Fargo, ND; and Natalie (Corey) Schultz, West Fargo, ND; her grandchildren, Carly (Erik Carlson) Thompson, Joseph (Naomi Kosen) Thompson, Brady Vasichek, Taylor Vasichek and Nicholas (Christine Tolles) Schultz; siblings, Keith (Bea) Kroke, Robert Kroke, Norma (Jim) Vasichek, Elaine Berdahl, Jerome (Gayle) Kroke, Neil (Trisha) Kroke, Steven (Evelyn) Kroke, Mary (John) Larson, Lenore Kroke, Carol (Steven) Lovejoy and Otis (Kathy) Kroke; sister-in-law, Betty Kroke; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thorney and Theresa Kroke; brother, Forrest Kroke; brother-in-law, Eugene (Toby) Berdahl; sister-in-law, Darby Kroke; and nephew, Jeff Vasichek.

Jeanne’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the staff of Bethany on 42nd, especially the CNA’s and nurses.
