Jeanette Maurgaurite (Linderman) Reimers was born in Estabrook Township, North Dakota, on June 4, 1928, to Ross and Marie (Garland) Linderman. She grew up on a farm with five brothers and one sister and attended school in Estabrook. Jeanette’s mother developed MS and Jeanette had to forgo her high school years to stay home and help her mother care for the family. As a young woman, she worked as a telephone operator in Carrington and Fargo. She was drawn to Fargo as her hometown sweetheart, L.S. (Steve) Reimers, was away attending college at NDSU. They continued their courtship in Fargo and were married March 10, 1949. They were married for more than 57 years, with Steve passing in May of 2006. Jeanette and Steve lived and worked together in Carrington in the family farming operation. Jeanette took great pride in bringing the family farm to a close after Steve’s passing with the assistance of their many long-term, loyal employees. Family was always the focus for Jeanette and she was happiest when surrounded by her four children, Georgia (Tom) Dawson; Claudia McGrath; Fred (Jessica) Reimers; and R.D. (Bridget) Reimers; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She enjoyed many summers at the family lake home in Park Rapids, MN. All the children and grand children have wonderful memories of their time with Jeanette there and at the family home that she and Steve built together in Carrington. Jeanette passed away peacefully at home in Fargo on Sunday, September 7, 2008, surrounded by her loving family.
