Jean A. Neshiem, 82, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, October 21, 2010, at Sanford Health, Fargo. Jean Audrey Buth was born April 25, 1928, to Carl and Mabel (Poehls) Buth in Sabin, Minnesota. Jean graduated from Casselton High School in Casselton, North Dakota, in 1946, and NW Institute of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, Minnesota, in 1947. Jean married James L. Neshiem in Casselton in 1949. Together, they started Neshiem Electric in 1957, and later, Aerial Contractors in 1971. After selling her interest in Aerial Contractors, Jean pursued her life long interest in traveling the world. The more remote places held a fascination for her to see and learn about. Her travels took her off the beaten path, including both Poles and the bottom of the ocean. Jim died in 1988. After his death, Jean became very involved in the Theodore Roosevelt Medora Foundation. Jean’s incredible generosity of spirit expressed itself in her years of volunteer work for the Salvation Army, her long time interest in helping the Humane Society, the Women’s Rape and Abuse Center, the Fargo Fire Department and many others. In 1991, Jean married Vernie A. Otterson in Fargo. Jean was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jim; and her brother, Wayne Buth. She is survived by her loving friend, Vernie Otterson; daughters, Paulette R. Neshiem-Milliken (Ray), Bozeman, MT; Pamela K. Neshiem-Hahn (Randall), Fargo, ND; granddaughter, Ellana Garthune (Brett); great-granddaughters, Isabella and Scarlett Garthune, Farmington, MN.
