Jean Pratt Lindgren was born August 3, 1928 at Gardner, North Dakota to Robert W. and Anne (Margach) Pratt. She graduated from Grandin High School in 1946. She attended UND and graduated from NDSU in 1950 with a major in English Education. While in college Jean was president of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority, Pan-Hellenic, served in Guidon and college choir, and was selected as one of the graduates that made “things go”.
Jean married Oscar Lindgren in August, 1952. During the early years of her marriage, she taught high school English in Abercrombie, ND and West Fargo, ND. Jean was always active in the community including the Fargo Fortnightly Study Club, Chapter AE PEO, and First Presbyterian Church, where she sang in the choir for 40 years. She also served on Presbytery Council, was an elder in the church and volunteered at Merit Care and Dakota Hospitals. Jean enjoyed duplicate bridge, cross country skiing, reading, and the family lake cottage on Pelican Lake, where she spent every summer.
Jean died November 25, 2017 at Elim Care Center in Fargo, ND.
She is survived by her children, Paul Lindgren, Dallas, TX and Virginia (Ginny) Lindgren, Atlanta, GA; two granddaughters, Hailey and McKenzie Lindgren, both of Waco, TX. She is preceded in death by her husband, Oscar; brothers George Pratt and William (Bill) Pratt, and her sister-in-law Phyllis Pratt.
