At 2:00 on the morning of April 18th, 2015 Jean Rene Hesson passed from the valley of tears which is this world into the joyous kingdom of God. Jean Hesson was born in her family’s home in Polk County, Wisconsin January 26th, 1923 to Lylah and Carroll Hesson. Jean spent her youth in Wisconsin, Iowa (near Newton), and back to Wisconsin where she graduated from Miltown High School as her class salutatorian.
After high school, Jean worked for the welfare department in the county seat in Balsam Lake, WI. She eventually moved to Fargo, North Dakota to live with her Aunt Eunice and her two cousins Jimmy and Mary Carol (Fambro) Twetten in the early 1950s. She was employed as a secretary for the Railroad Retirement Board; a job at which she worked tirelessly helping those needing retirement assistance while being a good steward of the Board’s resources. She worked her way up through the system, retiring as the regional supervisor of the Railroad Retirement Board.
Jean was an active member of the Fargo First United Methodist Church for over forty years and was a regular volunteer in the church office. Although she never married, Jean was devoted to her parents, her brother Galen, her sister Donis, and her Aunt Eunice. She was also the perfect aunt to her seven nieces and nephews. She loved golf and bowling, cats and dogs—but mostly cats, and to travel. Some of her best memories late in life were the trips with her two friends Jeanette Stone and Rose Gudmundson.
Jean Hesson is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Galen Hesson, her nephew Philip Eischens, and her great niece Carissa Eischens. She is survived by her sister Donis Eischens, her cousins Jeff Twetten and Mary Carol Fambro, her nieces Jeanie Eischens, and Martha Ondricek (husband Randy), her nephews Galen (Jeff) Hesson, and William (wife Sharon), Steven (wife Janice), and Frank (wife Amy) Eischens; many grand- and great grand- nieces and nephews, as well as her good friend Jeanette Stone. We will all miss her dearly.
