Jean Iris McDonald was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba, June 11, 1911. She died April 24, 2016, at Rosewood on Broadway, Fargo, ND.
Her parents were George W. and Elizabeth McDonald. The family lived in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, where she attended school. She attended the University of Saskatchewan before graduating with a degree in registered nursing from Winnipeg General Hospital, Winnipeg, Manitoba, in 1938.
She married Luverne Shepherd on Dec. 23, 1939 in Fargo, ND. He died June 6, 1941. She married Eddie A. Aalgaard of Fargo at Knox Presbyterian Church in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, in 1944. They lived in Fargo, ND where he was President of Valley Lincoln Mercury. He died in 1957.
Jean is survived by one daughter, Georgia Ann Bond, St. Paul, MN, and one son, Jay Eddie Aalgaard of Fargo, ND; 2 grandchildren, Christopher Harvey Bond (Michele) and Jennifer Ann Bond, St. Paul, MN, and 3 great-grandchildren. She has one sister, Louise (Mrs. R.P. Macdonald) in Guelph, Ontario, and many nieces and nephews in Canada.
She was a long time member of the First Presbyterian Church, Meca Chapter #5 order of the Easter Star, the P.E.O. Sisterhood, and hospital volunteer.
A private memorial service will be held for her family at a later date. Memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church, Fargo.
