J. Clarke Bassett, 79, of Scottsdale, AZ, died Saturday, August 25, 2007, at The Evergreens, Fargo, ND. James Clarke Bassett was born in Aberdeen, SD on January 29, 1928 to Clarke and Marjorie Milligan Bassett. He grew up in Fargo and attended schools in the area. He attended college at Dartmouth College graduating in 1949. He entered the United States Navy where he served as an officer in the Korean Conflict. Clarke Bassett married Martha Brown on March 3, 1951 and they lived many years in Minneapolis, MN and in Pelham, NY. After Martha’s death on February 5, 1995, he moved to Scottsdale, AZ and he summered in Fargo, ND. His interests included hiking, sailing, dry fly fishing, and cooking. Clarke is survived by two children, Ann (Scott) Bassett Berry, Lewisburg, PA and Clarke C. (Kathryn) Bassett, Westbrook, CT; and two sisters, Susan Simonson, Fargo, ND and Harriet Price, Pelican Rapids, MN; four grandchildren, Emily, Leah, and Wilson Berry, and Luke Clarke Bassett, and special friend, Polly Penney, Minneapolis, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Private Family Memorial service: Monday, August 27, 2007 at 11:00AM at Gethsemane Episcopal Cathedral, Fargo, ND. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Hospice of the Red River Valley or Trout Unlimited,
