Jay Ellis Hoag, 66, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, July 12, 2007, at Innovis Health, Fargo. Jay was born September 28, 1940, at Hunter, ND, to Bender and Florence (Monson) Hoag. He grew up in Arthur, ND and graduated from high school there in 1959. He attended Wahpeton State School of Science for two years. He served in the US Army for three years. He was employed by Dakota Hospital in the PT Department for 38 years. Jay went to work for REM until his retirement in 2006. Jay was a volunteer at MeritCare and also was recognized for donating over 17 gallons of blood to United Blood Services. Jay was a long time member of the barber shop group “Great Plains Harmony” and several quartets over the years, including “Double Generation”. He was also a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church where he was active in the choir. Jay is survived by one brother; John Hoag, Arthur, ND; two sisters; Katherine Hoag, Fargo, ND; and Jean (Monte) Swanson, Carson, ND; 16 nieces and nephews; 38 grand nieces and nephews; and 27 great grand nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and one grand niece. Memorials are preferred to the American Heart Association and the American Diabetes Association. Funeral: Monday, July 16, 2007, at 2:00 PM in the Hanson-Runsvold Chapel. Visitation: Sunday, July 15, 2007 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM, and one hour before the service in the chapel. Burial: Monday, July 16, 2007 at 4:00 PM in the Arthur Cemetery.
