Janice was born December 8, 1931 in Kensal, ND to Clarence and Della (Fredrickson) Walker. They moved to Fargo in 1943. Janice graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1949.
Janice married Leonard D. Otterson September 9, 1949 at Olivet Lutheran Church in Fargo. They had two sons and two daughters. Janice's life revolved around her children. She was PTA President, Camp Fire Girls leader, Cub and Boy Scout Den Mother, Sunday School Teacher, Bible School Teacher and other numerous children's activities. In 1955 the Otterson family became Charter Members of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Janice was an active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church Women (BLCW), Bible studies, the Quilters group, Sunday School, and Bible School. She was a graduate of the Bethel Bible Study Program. In 1990 she toured the Holy Land.
Janice started working for the Fargo Public Schools in 1971 as a library aide at Agassiz and worked as a Para at the ETC. She retired in 1994.
Janice loved politics, bowling, playing card games, sewing, fishing and reading. But she especially loved spending time at their lake cabin on Tamarac Lake.
Janice was diagnosed with cancer October 5, 2013 and joyfully looked forward to joining her Savior Jesus Christ and her two sons in Heaven. Her wish was granted on Monday December 2, 2013 in her home.
Janice was loved and is survived by her husband of 64 years, Leonard; two daughters, Pamela (Dwight) Bostow, Fargo; Judith (James) Piersol, West Fargo; two sisters, Phyllis (Jacy) Nelson, Seattle; Janet (Robert) Johnson, Kansas City; one brother-in-law, Robert Otterson, Great Falls; two daughter-in-laws, Cecilee Turmo and Cathy Otterson, both of Fargo; seven grandchildren, Cassandra, Sarah, Crystal, Nathaniel, Jessica, Justin, Ashley; and seven great-grandchildren, Poe, Katelyn, Ryder, Caydence, Cash, Callen, Judah; and many nieces and nephews.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Greg and Gary; and two sisters, Maxine and Beverly.
