Jane S. Bond, age 94, of Fargo, ND, passed away on January 4, 2025 in her home. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, from 1 PM to 2 PM followed by her 2 PM funeral service at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo. Burial will be held in Riverside Cemetery, Fargo. Jane Bond was born Mary Jane Walker, September 26, 1930, to Mary Abigail (Beers) Simmons in New York, New York. Jane spent her formative years on a small farm in up-state New York with her grandparents.
Jane was adopted by Harriman N. (Monk) Simmons following his marriage to Her mother. Monk was a strong and wonderful father in every measure.
Bill and Jane met while attending high school in Heidelberg, Germany. Their military families were stationed in different areas of post-war Germany, and they were among many who attended the boarding school.
Jane continued her education in Pennsylvania, graduating with an RN from Temple University in Philadelphia.
Jane and a newly minted butter bar Lieutenant, William R Bond Jr., were married August 21, 1954, and soon welcomed 5 children: Robert A. (Aurel), David M. (Jill), Steven R., Janet C. (Greg), and Richard H. (Patty).
As a mother, homemaker, and housewife, Jane had many opportunities to utilize her nursing training!
The Bond family moved many times, finally settling in the Fargo-Moorhead area following Bill’s retirement from the Army.
She thoroughly enjoyed volunteering in hospital gift shops and, ultimately, The White Elephant Thrift Store (20 years!) in Green Valley, AZ.
Jane was a very grateful person who often expressed how much God has blessed her and Bill. She had many spiritual conversations and made a profession of faith in Jesus. Her gratitude was extended to her physicians, nurses, and other caregivers and had many friendly conversations, even during her pain-filled times. This nature endeared her to those who had the privilege to work with her. Jane was loving and kind, putting others before herself; her parting words expressed concern for those she would leave behind. Jane died January 4, 2025, at home.
Jane is survived by her husband (Bill) of over 70 years, 4 children, 7 grandchildren, and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, mother, and 1 son, Steven R.
