James Daniel Wee

James Daniel Wee, age 89, passed away December 2, 2014 at Villa Maria Nursing Home, Fargo, ND.

James Daniel Wee was born May 2, 1925, in Fargo, ND to Bernard and Alma (Gilbertson) Wee. James graduated from Fargo High School in 1943 and enlisted in the US Navy. He served aboard the destroyer USS Ross in the South Pacific Theater. He returned to Fargo and was employed by the Postal Service until his retirement in 1978. James was a life time member of the VFW and member of the American Legion for over 65 years.

James married Ingrid Thompson in Sisseton, SD on February 19, 1974. They both were very active in their church – St. John’s Lutheran, volunteering many hours in the office. James volunteered with publications at the church for over 30 years. James was an avid sport and fitness enthusiast. He loved golf, YMCA, dancing with Ingrid and was a huge NDSU Bison fan. His golf adventures included playing in the National Publinks at Meadowbrook Golf Club in Minneapolis, MN in 1947 and the National Amateur in 1950 at the Minneapolis Golf Club. James also ran the USGA’s Publink Golf Tourneys for over 13 years.

He is survived by his stepchildren, Barbara (Matt) Kuhn of Frederick, MD and Barry (Juanita) Thompson, Filer, ID; nephews, Jerry Jensen of Fargo, ND and Richard (Mary Louise) Jensen, Glastonbury, CT; and special friend Patrick Keogh of Fargo, ND. He is also survived by his sister, Bernice Neuberger, Shakopee, MN; nephew, Danny Neuberger, Herington, KS; brother, Ray Wee, Albuquerque, NM; and nieces, Jan Wee, Carol Carver, Nan Wee and nephew, Gary Wee. He is also survived by nieces, Susan McMillan, IL; Sharon Nelson, San Diego, CA; nephew, Robert Carter, Milwaukee, WI; nieces, Shirley Lathrop, Hayes, Virginia; and Bonnie Bredelle, Sebring, FL.

James was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Arnold; his sisters, Frances Jensen and Helen Carter, and wife, Ingrid Wee.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the YWCA or St. John Lutheran Church.
