E. James Ubbelohde, 83, of Fargo, ND passed peacefully away Saturday, June 5, 2010, at home under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley. Edwin James Ubbelohde was born December 29, 1926, in Waldo, Wisconsin, to Carl and Carrie (Stratton) Ubbelohde. He attended schools in Wisconsin, graduating from Mission House (now, Lakeland) College, Mission House Seminary and Garrett Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois. He served Methodist and Evangelical Reformed (United Church of Christ) parishes in Wisconsin and Brooklyn, NY. He taught in the speech education department at New York University before moving to Fargo in 1967, where he was for a time chairman of Speech and Drama at North Dakota State University. He married Marcia Patterson in 1955 at Caldwell, Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Marcia, Fargo, ND; sisters, Marguerite Sinner, Racine, WI; Doris (Dr. Donald) Ames, St. Louis, MO; sister and brother-in-law, Margaret (Walter) Carroll; nieces and nephews. Memorial Service: Friday, June 11, 2010, at 7:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND.
