James Mortenson, 91, of Fargo, ND, died Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Villa Maria in Fargo.
James Walter Mortenson was born March 14, 1924 in Moorhead, MN to Otto and Leonora (Dahl) Mortenson. He attended schools in Moorhead, graduating from Moorhead High School in 1941.
James began his higher education at Concordia College in Moorhead before being drafted into the US Army in 1943. He served during World War II and spent part of his time in the Phillipines. After returning from his service, he resumed his education and graduated from Concordia College in 1949. He managed the Western Paper Co. in Billings, MT. He was active in Lutheran churches in Billings and Fargo.
James was united in marriage to Beatrice Graff on June 28, 1969 in Kindred, ND.
James had been a member of the C400 Club since 1961 and was the recipient of several C400 awards.
James is survived by several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, Ellen and Vi Mortenson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice; his parents; and siblings, Ethel (Oscar) Blilie, Carroll Mortenson, Phillip (Adelle) Mortenson, Robert (Marie) Mortenson, Art (Betty) Mortenson, Wilbur Mortenson, and Maybelle (Harold) Dinsmore.
