James Darrell Moore was born on December 26, 1945, in Fargo to Rodey and Lucille Moore. He graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1963. He attended North Dakota State University and Dakota College in Bottineau, ND, prior to being drafted into the Army. He proudly served our country from March 1966 to December 1967. After his honorable discharge from the Army, Jim attended Data Processing School. Upon completion, he was hired as a computer programmer for National Cash Register Company until 1973.
Jim married Rae Chandler on June 24, 1972. They made their home in Fargo. They became proud parents of Jodi Kay on March 1, 1977. Jim loved being a parent and supporting Jodi in all her endeavors. Jim decided to return to school at Moorhead State University in 1974. He earned a B.S. degree in Mass Communications with an emphasis on photography. In his senior year, he received an internship with Melroe Co (now Bobcat). After graduating he was hired to stay at Bobcat as a videographer. He remained with Bobcat until his retirement on November 30, 2006.

Jim was a man with many hobbies. Model railroading was his greatest passion. He was a member of the Red River Modular Club and served as their treasurer from 1986 to March 2024. He loved setting up the module display and running the model trains for many area events in the community. He was also a member of the National Model Railroad Association.

Jim loved nature - hunting and fishing. He could spend countless hours on the lake in hopes of "Catching the Big One" and then he had his fishing stories to share. He also enjoyed woodworking, photography, gardening, and anything else that sparked his interest. His greatest joy was becoming a grandfather. Allison (Alli) was born on September 20, 2003, MaKayla born December 10, 2007, and Kelsey born on December 16, 2009. He was so proud of each of them and so much enjoyed spending time with them and attending events in which they participated. When he was not able to attend in person, he connected on the computer to watch them perform. Each of them have special talents and again, we are so proud.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney and Lucille Moore; parents-in-law, Adrian (Bud) and Elaine Chandler.

His loving family includes his wife, Rae; daughter, Jodi; son-in-law, Anthony Elkins; in-laws, Barry and Kay Malme; Doug and Karla Chandler; nephews, Jeremy Chandler, Justin Chandler, and Mathew Chandler; and niece, Nichelle Kluver.
