James Milek, 69, of Fargo, ND, died Sunday, March 30, 2014 at the VA Hospital in Fargo.
James Henry Milek was born March 10, 1945 in Jamestown, ND to Samuel and Elizabeth (Aipperspach) Milek. He attended grade school and high school in Jamestown. He trained as a cook at the Job Corps in Bismarck, ND.
James served in the US Army with a tour of duty in Vietnam for 15 months.
After returning to Jamestown, he was employed by the State Hospital as a baker for four years. In 1972 he moved to Fargo, where he was employed by Ready Italy until 1979.
On November 25, 1972, James married Colleen Joy Cleary in Olga, ND. In 1979, he began work at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN as a cook. He worked there until his retirement in 2008. Jim enjoyed cooking, fishing, and spending time at the lake with his family.
Jim is survived by his wife of 41 years, Colleen; daughters, Chelsea Pederson and Carrie Milek, both of Fargo, ND; two sisters, Patricia (Gary) Satern; Pamela Peterson; and two grandsons, Cooper Pederson and Isaiah Milek.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Elizabeth; brother, Jerome Milek; and sister, Joy Lippert.
Prayer Service: 11:30am, Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND.
