Jacqueline "Jackie" Larson, 65, of Fargo, passed away peacefully Friday, November 25, 2016 at Valley Care & Rehab, Barnesville, MN. Jackie courageously battled multiple sclerosis for over 40 years. Her approach to life and to her illness was truly an inspiration to all who knew her. She never let her disability stand in her way and lived life to its fullest extent. She will be remembered by her ever present smile, laughter and warm personality.
Jackie grew up in south Fargo and attended Clara Barton Elementary. She graduated from Fargo South High School in 1970. She graduated in 1973 from the Swedish School of Nursing in Minneapolis as part of the last graduating class. During her summers in nursing school, she enjoyed her work as a camp nurse at Red Willow Bible Camp and The Shores of St. Andrews.
In 1973 she began her nursing career in the Pediatric Intensive Care Nursery at St. Luke’s Hospital. She ended her nursing career in 1988 as the Quality Assurance Coordinator at MeritCare. Jackie loved all phases of her career and held a special place in her heart for the children of the Intensive Care Unit.
On January 15, 1977, she was united in marriage with Curt Larson at Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Her marriage led to a full life with an amazingly supportive husband. Together they raised two wonderful sons, who have given them five adorable granddaughters. Through the years, Jackie enjoyed children’s school and sporting activities, travel, their home on Pelican Lake and cheering on the NDSU Bison.
She is survived by her husband, Curt Larson, Fargo; mother, Virginia Olson, Fargo, ND; sons, Christopher (Jill) Larson, Edina, MN and Matthew (Alicia) Larson, Fargo, ND; three brothers, Mike (Valarie) Olson, Phoenix, AZ, Gary (Polly) Olson, Savage, MN and Kent (Lisa) Olson, Horace, ND; five grandchildren, Berit, Elin & Marit and Molly & Avery.
She was preceded in death by her father, Robert G. Olson, grandparents, Arthur & Elsie Olson and Enoch & Martha Wahl.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to Olivet Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND or Valley Care and Rehab, Barnesville, MN. Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Valley Care & Rehab. They provided excellent care, compassion and love during her time there.
