Jack Leier, born December 10, 1925 to Catherine (Marthe) Leier and Ignatius Leier in Esmond, ND passed away July 1, 2018 in Clermont, Florida.
After attending school in a one room school house, Jack enlisted in the Navy. After his honorable discharge, he attended Minot State Teachers College and later also earned a Master’s Degree from Moorhead State College. While at Minot State, he met Jean DeWitt and they were married in September 1950. They were married 59 years.
Jack and Jean moved to Fargo in 1951. He began working at Ben Franklin Jr. High first as a science teacher, then became Assistant Principal. He retired in 1989.
After retiring, Jack spent winters down south, setting in Altamonte Springs, FL in 1999. After Jean passed away he moved to Clermont, FL. Jack was an avid gardener in his spare time. He loved watching sports, especially college, and was a fan of NDSU Bison football and the MN Vikings and Twins.
Jack is survived by his children; Michael (Cheri), Paula Leier, Robert (Rachel), and Barbara (Shane) Grovum; grandchildren: Anna Burger, Jaclyn Leier, Alison Leier, David Leier, Dylan Grovum and Lennon Grovum; great-grandchildren, Logan and Genevieve Burger; sisters, Amelia Bachmeier and Arlene Johnson and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean; son, Gregory; six brothers, and four sisters.
