Irma Nygaard

Irma Nygaard, 83, passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2007, at the Rosewood on Broadway Nursing Home in Fargo, ND. Irma Louise Nedberg was born May 8, 1924, in Aneta, North Dakota, daughter of Emma (Running) and Bennie Nedberg. She graduated from Aneta High School in 1942. She worked at the telephone company in Mayville, ND, for many years and later, moved to Fargo, ND, also working for the telephone company. She was united in marriage to Earl Nygaard July 21, 1954, at West Union Church in rural Northwood, ND, where she was also baptized and confirmed. Irma enjoyed camping, the lakes and being with family. She also enjoyed her numerous trips to Norway. She was a member of the Sons of Norway. She was an active member at First Lutheran Church and was involved in the Ruth Circle. She is survived by her son, Mark (Deb) Nygaard, Minneapolis, MN; son, Gregory (Joni) Nygaard, Fargo, ND; grandchildren, Jason and Robert Nygaard, Justin, Rachel and Paige Nygaard; siblings, Ruth Hovden, Martha Torkelson, Alfa Haugen, Erling Nedberg, Dorothy Schott and Sylvia Rausch; sister-in-law, Doris Vinger; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; her parents, Emma and Bennie; and one brother, Kenneth “Bud”. Funeral Service: Monday, December 10, 2007, at 11:00 AM, at First Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Sunday, December 9, 2007, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Prayer Service: Sunday, December 9, 2007, at 7:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Fargo, ND.
