Irene McCloskey, 85, of Moorhead, MN, died Thursday, March 31, 2011, at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead. Irene Weidner was born January 21, 1926, in Halliday, North Dakota, daughter of Emil and Emma (Wolf) Weidner. As a young girl, she moved to Bismarck where she worked at a café and met Leo McCloskey. Irene and Leo were married August 15, 1946, in Glendive, Montana. Leo worked for Cenex so they moved several times. They lived in Wilton, North Dakota, for 18 years; Ellendale, North Dakota, for 12 years; and Miles City, Montana, for 10 years. They moved to Wing, North Dakota, and Leo later retired, before moving to Bismarck, North Dakota. They had three sons, Jim, Pat and Kelly. Irene could make everyone laugh. She made friends easily and was loved by all who knew her. She enjoyed crocheting, which she did perfectly. Irene is survived by her sons, Jim (Brenda), Stephens, VA; Pat (Bonnie), Fargo, ND; Kelly (Lori), Grant, NE; two grandsons, Eric and Mitch; three granddaughters, Laura, Andrea and Abby; and one great-grandchild, Addison; step-granddaughters, Lori Devonshyre; and Tina Norvell,; step-great-grandchildren, Taylor and Caleb Norvell; her sisters ~ twin sister, Lorene (Oscar) Stohler, Bulah, ND; Esther (Al) Zahnow, Seattle, WA; and Corrine Johnson, Minot, ND; She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; one brother and four sisters.
