Ina Marion Stadum was born August 27, 1931, on the family farm in Broe Township, rural Esmond, N.D., to Carl and Mabel (Ness) Stadum.
Ina started her educational journey in Baker and graduated from High School in 1949 from Maddock. Ina completed her generals at Minot State University, later graduating from Concordia College of Moorhead with a degree in Elementary Education. Ina went on to receive her master’s degree in special education from Minnesota State University Moorhead and also earned credits for teaching gifted students through the University of South Dakota in Vermillion.
Ina worked in various schools in both North and South Dakota. After her retirement in 1994, she continued to substitute teach in the Fargo area schools. Ina enjoyed her teaching career.
Ina was a member of First Lutheran Church and a former member of the Fargo Retired Teachers and Sons of Norway. Ina was very proud of her Norwegian heritage and she spent countless hours recording the genealogy of the Stadum family. She cherished her memories of growing up on the family farm.
Ina died at Bethany Retirement Living in Fargo, ND on January 11, 2019. She was 87 years old.
Ina is survived by her brother, Ernest Stadum, Fargo, ND; sister, Elaine (George) Marquette, Milnor, ND and many nieces, nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Orville, Clifford, and Norman and sisters, Selma and Mildred.
Memorial Service: 10:00 AM, Tuesday, January 15 at Bethany on University’s Mavis Whiting Chapel. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
