Howard “Howie” J. Johnson, 81, Fargo died Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Elim Home, Fargo. Howard was born on May 13, 1929 in Wellsburg, ND to Johnnie and Elva (Clinton) Johnson. He graduated from Harvey High School in 1947 and from ND School of Science in Wahpeton with an associate’s degree. Howard joined the Marine Corps in 1951, serving until 1953. He was a member of the Marine Corps League. Howard married June Lithun in 1948. They had four children, Diane, Renee, Doug and Bonnie. Howard then married Doramay Strebig on November 1, 1962, and they had two children, Kenneth and Michael. Howard worked as a mechanic during his lifetime. In 1969, he started Howie’s Repair out of his home garage in Fargo. In 1970, he purchased the current location, where he owned and operated it for 40 years. Howard is survived by his six children, Diane (Marvin) Morrison, Renee (Tom) Wilbur, Doug (Connie) Beireis, Bonnie (Paul) Burke, Kenneth (Crystal) Johnson and Michael (Nicole) Johnson; Three sisters, Joyce Groseth, Grand Forks, ND, Alma (Fred) Martin, Lisbon, ND and Wilma (Lyn) Price, Rocky Mount, NC; ten grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren and long-time special friend, Shirley Orvik. Funeral: Thursday, May 27, 2010, 2:00 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to services at Hanson-Runsvold. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
