Hjerdis Watson, 91, died peacefully at Sanford Palliative Care Unit, Fargo ND, August 25, 2010. Hjerdis Evelyn Molvig was born May 6, 1919, to Jens and Clara (Saevig) Molvig in Buxton, ND. She graduated from Buxton High School in 1937 and St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing in 1941. She served in the US Navy as a surgical nurse during WWII and the Korean Conflict. She worked as nurse for St. Luke's Hospital, Clinic and the VA Hospital in Fargo. After her retirement, she continued to work as a volunteer at MeritCare for many years. Hjerdis married John A. Watson June 15, 1956, in Buxton, ND. They made their home in north Fargo, with Hjerdis moving to Pioneer House Assisted Living in 2002, and to Comstock Corner in Hillsboro, ND in 2009. Hjerdis was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, Northside Quilters and Quilter's Guild for many years with quilting being her passion. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, John (Jack). She is survived by her son Alan (Sharon) of Buxton, grandchildren Michael (Katelyn) of West Fargo, Alyssa (Aaron) Solseng of Fargo, great grandchildren Sophia, Julia and Luke Solseng of Fargo, sisters Naomi (Carroll) Borke of Hillsboro and Agnes Skarperud of Mayville, and many loved nieces and nephews. Funeral: Friday, August 27, 2010, 2:00 PM at Messiah Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND. Visitation: One hour prior to services at the church. Burial: Riverside Cemetery, Fargo, ND.
