Helen Alma Elizabeth Ertsgard

Helen Weller Ertsgard, 94, of Fargo, ND, died Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at Bethany Retirement Living Cares I, Fargo, ND. Helen Alma Elizabeth Laffen was born May 21, 1916, in Hector, Minnesota, daughter of John and Elsie (Rice) Laffen. She attended Ellendale Normal School and received her Bachelors Degree from University of Minnesota, Mankato. She married Roy Weller on September 25, 1937 in Edgeley, North Dakota. Helen taught at Medberry and Edgeley in North Dakota, Roscoe, South Dakota and Jordan, Minnesota. Roy died in 1975. Helen married Harold Ertsgard in 1984, in Black Forest, Colorado. Harold died in 1995. Helen was very active in her church. She taught Sunday school and was a reading tutor. Helen was also an avid card player for most of her life. Helen is survived by her daughter-in-law, LaVina Weller, Rimrock, AZ; her grandchildren, David (Robin) Weller, Windsor, CA; Douglas Weller, Santa Rosa, CA; and Diane (Billy) Hirsch, Phoenix, AZ; great-grandchildren, Chris and Chelsea Weller, Windsor, CA; her brother, Les (Margery) Laffen, Fargo, ND; and her three sisters, Evelyn Meissner, Afton, MN; Luella Haugen, Minot, ND; and Sandra (Dale) Saville, Camp Wood, TX; and her aunt, Orma Pedersen, Hector, MN. She was preceded in death by her husbands; her son, Jerome Daniel Weller; brothers, Donald and Lawrence Laffen; and her grandson, Robert Weller. Funeral Service: Friday, September 10, 2010, at 10:30 AM, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, Moorhead, MN. Visitation: Thursday, September 9, 2010, from 5-7 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold, Fargo, ND. Burial: Friday, September 10, 2010, at 3:00 PM, at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Edgeley, ND.
