Hedrick L. Peer, 92, of Fargo, ND, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 28, 2014 with his family at his side at Bethany on University in Fargo.
Hedrick LeRoy Peer was born July 10, 1922 to Frank and Leta (Faye) Peer in Kansas City, MO. He served in the US Army during World War II, after which he joined the US Air Force in which he served for 21 years. Hedrick and family moved to Fargo in 1972. He worked at the VA Hospital in food service for several years. He later worked as a volunteer at the VA and was widely known as the “book man”.
Hedrick married Arlys Warwas on April 19, 1952. They had been married for 52 years at the time of her death in 2004.
Hedrick was recognized for having served as a volunteer for over 7000 hours. Aside from his service at the VA, he loved to fish for Muskie, and was the Vice President for Muskies Inc. as well as a tournament director, for which he fished for hundreds of hours. He loved fishing, and he loved his grandsons.
Hedrick is survived by his loving family, including his daughter, Leandra (Russ) Freitag, West Fargo, ND; son, Mark Peer, Dilworth, MN; grandsons, Dustin and Aaron Freitag; and great-granddaughter, Abbey Freitag.
