Harvey Vreugdenhil, 63, of Fargo, ND, died Thursday, January 24, 2008, at Innovis Health, Fargo. Harvey Gene Vreugdenhil was born September 20, 1944, at Alton, Iowa, son of Edward and Marie (DenHartog) Vreugdenhil. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Alton. Harvey received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Iowa in Ames in 1964. He joined the Peace Corp and was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving 18 months in Vietnam. He moved to Fargo, North Dakota, when he was discharged. He received his Masters degree in Ag-Econ from North Dakota State University in December 1971. Harvey married Sharon Ravn in Devils Lakes, North Dakota, January 7, 1972. He began working in research for the Ag. Dept. and continued to work for NDSU in various departments until his death. He served as Past Master of Sunrise #130, Past Grand Illustrious Commander Knight’s Templar and Past Grand High Priest. He belonged to Eastern Star Mecca #5 and Moorhead #164 and served on the board for Rainbow Girls. Harvey is survived by his wife, Sharon, Fargo, ND; a son, John Vreugdenhil, Fargo, ND; a brother, Edward Ray Vreugdenhil, Sioux City, IA; two sisters, Georgie Lee (Melvin) Bonnewell, Sioux City, IA; and Marguerite Joan (Ronald) Huls, Boscobel, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents. No service is planned at this time.
