Harry Weisenberger, 66, died January 17, 2008 in Fargo, North Dakota. Harry was born October 3, 1941 in Halliday, North Dakota, a son of Emil and Lydia Weisenberger. His family moved to Stanley, North Dakota where he attended school and graduated in 1959. Following high school, he attended Minot State College where he received a two-year Standard Degree and began his teaching career in Fessenden, North Dakota in 1961. Harry returned to Minot State College and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in 1964. In 1964 Harry married Sandi Vorland in Fessenden. Harry taught in the Bismarck Public Schools from 1964 to 1970. He received a Master’s Degree from the University of North Dakota in 1970. From 1970 to 1974 he worked for the ND Department of Vocational Education. Harry became principal at Sweetwater Elementary in Devils Lake, ND and served from 1974 to 1977. In 1977 he returned to University of North Dakota and graduated with a doctorate in 1979. At this time, he returned to the Bismarck Public Schools as an elementary principal and held that position until he retired in 1995. In 1995 Harry and Sandi moved to Fargo and Harry began renovating their cottage on Lake Melissa. From 1997 to 1999 Harry worked at St. Cloud State University. Harry began teaching at Minnesota State University Moorhead the fall of 1999 and worked there until his retirement the summer of 2007. Since 1995 Harry periodically worked for FEMA. Throughout his career, Harry's priority was children, and he was first and ever an advocate for all. Harry is survived by his wife Sandi of Fargo, children Cory (John) Driscoll of Madison, CT, Brady (Lori) Weisenberger of Fargo and Heidi (JR) Bauman of St. Anthony, MN and eight grandchildren, Grace, Jack, Brayden, Flynn, Dawson, Bergen, Anneliese and Joseph Axel. Harry’s nine surviving siblings are JoAnn (Milt) Cox, Duluth, MN, Donna (John) Post, McGregor, ND, Gladys (Dave) Clevenger, Arlington, TX, Janice (Clarence) Kvamme, Palermo, ND, Gary (Cheryl) Weisenberger, Stanley, ND, Beverly Neset, Stanley, ND, Robert (Brenda) Weisenberger, Fargo, Linda (Richard) Halvorson, Palermo, ND, Mike (Jill) Weisenberger, Grand Forks, ND. Other survivors include brother-in-law and sister-in-law Dean and Alicia Vorland, New Rockford and mother-in-law Mary Vorland of Fessenden, ND. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Dale. A Sharing Service will be held on Monday, January 21, 2008 at Hope Lutheran Church, South Campus, Fargo, North Dakota at 12 noon. The funeral service will follow at Hope at 2 pm. Following the funeral service, burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Fargo.
