Harris Wayne Widmer, 88, Fargo, ND, passed away on February 25, 2023.

Harris was born on August 2, 1934, the son of Jacob and Bertha (George) Widmer in Fredonia, ND. He was raised in Fredonia and Crosby, MN. Harris graduated from Kulm High School in 1952. He attended the University of North Dakota until entering the United States Army. Harris was Honorably Discharged as a Sergeant in 1955. Upon returning from the Army, he graduated from Jamestown College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1958.

Harris married Arlyce Gall on June 15, 1958, in Kulm. They moved to LaMoure, ND, in 1958 and to Fargo, ND, in 1962, where they lived until Harris' death.

Harris was a teacher and principal in LaMoure, ND, between 1958 and 1962. In 1962, Harris became a Field Agent for the IRS in Fargo. Harris started working at Broeker Hendrickson & Co. in 1963 (now Eide Bailly LLP) and eventually became a partner. In 1973 Harris founded Widmer Roel PC and was with the organization for 48 years.

Harris' true passions were his family, hunting, fishing, and education. Harris and Arlyce were married for 64 years and had one son Keith in 1965. He loved being a Grover Grandpa and going to all the grandkids' events. Harris' enthusiasm for hunting and fishing took him to many places, but it was the experiences he had with his son, grandchildren, and friends that were the most important part of the stories told after the hunt. Harris had a passion for people improving themselves through formal and informal education. He also believed in giving back, which Harris did at the University of Jamestown as a Board of Trustee Member for 30 years.

Harris is survived by his wife, Arlyce, of Fargo; grandchildren, Andrew (Catlyn) of Dilworth, MN; Alex (Alexandra DeSmet) of Adairsville, GA; Allison and Austin, both of Fargo; brother, Larry (Barbara) of Wichita, KS; nephew, Greg (Heidi) Campbell of Bedford, IN; and a special cousin, Peggy Cichos of Fargo.

Harris was preceded in death by son, Keith (Lisa) of Hawley, MN; mother, Bertha; father, Jacob; sister, Shirley Campbell; and nephew, Mark Campbell.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the University of Jamestown Foundation, Oak Grove High School, or The First Congregational Church of Fargo.

Harris will be sadly missed by all that knew and loved him.
