Harris Mcbain

Harris McBain, son of Henry and Margaret (Janssen) McBain was born February 9, 1940 on his grandparent’s farm near Newtown (Sanish), ND. He grew up on the family farm near Fessenden. He attendend St. Anna country school and while attending school in Fessenden he belonged to FFA and graduated from High School in 1958. Harris helped on the family farm as well as surrounding farms and worked at the Elevator in Manfred, ND. Harris entered the U.S. Army February 4, 1960 and completed his service with a good conduct medal and has an honorable discharge April 2, 1962. After a brief time at home he soon left for Minneapolis, MN and stayed with a friend and worked for Minneapolis Moline. One June 19, 1965 he was married to Valeri Anderson in St. Paul, MN. During that time he worked as a laborer for Lazy Sue foods in Minneapolis and later Ryan Equipment and the South St. Paul Stockyards. In November 1969 he moved back to Fessenden with his wife and baby (Kari) on the way. He worked for Ryan Chevrolet in New Rockford, ND, and also for Home Construction Company and John Deere in Fessenden. In the fall of 1972, he moved his family to Moorhead, MN for two years working for Shirley Ongstad Plumbing and Heating. He worked in the warehouse and drove truck. In 1974 he moved his family again to North Fargo, with his second child (Tania) to arrive soon. In the fall of 1976, he moved his family for the last time to a house in South Fargo and later he began working for Midland Garage Door Co. and retired from Roman Meal. He is survived by his sister, Jeane Flick, and his three brothers, Ronald, Paul and Dale McBain; his wife, Valeri and two daughters, Kari and Tania. He was preceded in death by his parents; younger brother, Roger and his two half brothers, Jim and Bernard McBain. Funeral Service: Saturday, October 31, 2009, at 2:00 PM, at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home, Fargo, ND. Visitation: Friday, October 30, 2009 from 5 to 7 PM at Hanson-Runsvold Funeral Home. Burial: Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, MN.
